I Love You To Heaven and Back!

You know those kind of days when you just wish you could go back to bed and sleep all day? We all have them at some point. Today was that day for me. My day started just after 4:00am when the phone rang. I had two kids, one very wiggly, in bed with me all night so in an attempt to grab my phone I bonked Shay on the head. Good thing she was completely out of it because she moaned a little and went right back to sleep. Of course, as always when the phone rings and I see the area code, my heart started racing. It was my husband! I hadn't heard from him in a week so I was even more excited then ever to finally hear his voice. I answered the phone with "I love you". I could hear the joy in his voice as he said it back to me. It made me feel so happy that all it took was the sound of my voice to make him happy.

During our conversation I could tell something was a little off with him. He sounded tired and just not quite right. I can't even explain it, it's just one of those things a wife knows about her husband. He had mentioned that he hadn't gotten a lot of sleep so I just left it at that. If there were something he needed to talk about he would have brought it up, provided it was something he was allowed to talk about. My husband is big on doing the right thing and following the rules while he's deployed so I don't get to know exactly what his days are like and what he's been doing until after he comes home. In fact most of our conversations are about us back here at home. He always wants to know all about what we're doing, so I do most of the talking, anything to ease his mind and make him happy. He also doesn't want to say anything that would make me worry. He's always looking out for me like that. That's okay with me because I just need to know he's okay and that he knows I love him. I also want to make sure he knows that we are okay so he doesn't worry about us back home. That's definately something he would do if he ever thought we were doing less than great. He's very much that guy that would give anything to make his wife and kids happy. If something isn't right with any of us it is on his mind until he finds a way to make it better.

After talking with him this morning and hearing how worn out he already is, I had a strong desire to hop on a plane and go to him. I just wanted to wrap my arms around him to give him a great moment that would make him smile, if even for a minute. My husband is constantly on my mind, but today even more than usual. I want to be able to take care of him and make him feel better. I just felt helpless today. There was nothing I could do to make him feel better. You can be sure I said a lot of prayers today. Prayers for him to get some much needed rest, prayers for him to have strength, prayers for him to have a happy moment, prayers for his safety, and so much more. I know that God hears me and that He's watching over my husband which definately eases my mind. God is great all the time!

Trinity, if you're reading this, know that I'm praying for you all day every day. Know that God is with you through every moment of this deployment. Know that I'm missing you just as much as you're missing me. Know that I'm counting down the days until I'm back in your arms. Know that I love you to heaven and back, now and forever!
