I had entirely too much time to just sit and think today. That wasn't what I had in mind for a Saturday, but sometimes things don't work out as we hope. The girls and I woke up this morning to a yummy breakfast, compliments of Tristan. He made blueberry pancakes, cheesy eggs, cinnamon toast and orange juice. Not only was it the sweetest gesture for a 13 year old to do for his family, but it was super yummy! My kids never cease to amaze me. I'm so blessed to be their mom, even in those times when I feel like running away from it all like I did later in the day.
Tristan had band practice this afternoon and ended up spending most of the day at the teen center with his friends. His band practiced and they also watched the other band practice. He had a lot of fun. I can tell this is going to be his thing. He lights up when he talks about playing music. He gets really excited and wants to tell me all about it. Funny thing is that I sometimes have no idea what he's saying so I just nod my head and pretend I get it. Usually he'll say, "You really don't know what I'm talking about do you?". I'll admit my fault and he'll continue telling me all about it. It's just the fact that I'm willing to listen and take interest, that matters to him. He does try to explain things when he notices I don't get it, but even then I sometimes still have no idea what he's talking about. HeHe. I try though!
Shay had cooking class this afternoon. They made pancakes and a fruit bowl. The class was pretty full so they didn't have left overs like they did last month for the parents to try. There are a lot more kids signed up for class this month than there were last month. While she was doing that, Syd and I came home so she could play the wii. When we went to pick Shay up they started in with their bickering. I threatened them with not being able to go see Rio later on in the day if they didn't stop. Unfortunately that didn't work because by the time we got in the house, the bickering turned to fighting. I gave them one more chance because I really wanted to go see the movie, but apparently they didn't want to stop their fighting for a movie. That or they didn't think I'd really take it away from them. If that was the case, they thought wrong. We ended up staying home. All of us except Tristan anyhow. He asked if he could go see a movie here on post with the bands and some other friends. I let him go and he ended up having a great time.
After sitting around all evening while my mind ran all over the place, I think it needs some rest. I'm going to go read a book to Syd, as requested, and get my wondering mind to bed. Nighty Night!
